I wrote this poem for my mother shortly after she had a scare with cancer. I wanted to show her how much she means to me.

The big question is, where do I start?
I carry so many feelings for you in my heart

You nurtured me all through my childhood years
You comforted my hurts and wiped away my tears

You answered my questions, even the ones that were dumb
You know, those that will haunt me until I am gone

Then came the tough times when I was a teen
Until then I didn't know what having a mother could mean

You are there when I need you in so many ways
You pick me up when I'm down and brighten my days

Of course you are there to share the good times too
Those special occasions wouldn't be the same without you

I will never be able to express for as long as I live
My appreciation to you for all of the love that you give

So in return for all of your caring through the years
I promise to be there for you and wipe away your tears

Whenever you need me I'm just a phone call away
To talk or to listen, any time, any day

Mom, I love you with all of my heart.
