Where Was God?

I was inspired to write this poem after viewing a page called Where was God? on the Our Gift to America site. I hope that the message I have tried to get across will make people see that God cannot stop every bad thing that happens in this world. He can only try to help as many as he can in the ways that are open to him.

The people that live on this earth are the ones who control what actions take place here and who is hurt by those actions. That is what being human is....living our lives and being in control of our own destiny. God did not put us here so He could control who we are. Would you want him too? That would mean giving up the freedom of being you.

I hate the thought that anyone would let the events of September 11th make them believe that there is not a God or that he does not care about us. I hope you all can see the many ways he was there for us that day and every other day.
