Last night I was thinking
My cat on my lap with me
I wished that we humans
Loved so unconditionally

Our pets give us their love
No matter what we do
They forgive us our moods
Even try to help us through

Always happy to see us
Like we were gone a year
Company when alone
A comfort when we fear

They generate no conflict
No fighting, tears or pain
They give all they have
No expectations of gain

If we could give and receive
Love like they seem to do
Life would be more peaceful
And I believe much richer too
