Land of Confusion
September 11, 2001

I wrote this poem as a tribute to all of the victims and families
affected by the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.

Time seemed to stand still
On the morn of this tragic day
Like a bad dream come to life
Images that will never go away

The world watched in disbelief
As these evil attacks took place
Our country turned upside down
By an enemy without a face

In the aftermath of the destruction
As more information came to light
We learned of innocent lives lost
Of the terror of those in flight

The universal response of people
Was an awesome sight to behold
Sympathy, pain, anger and grief
Were felt by the young and the old

Heroes gave their lives to help
Others gave their blood and sweat
We all displayed our flag with pride
And donations with love were sent

The people of this proud country
As well as countries worldwide
Now share a common bond
That no terrorist can divide

As these historical events unfold
We look to God for a helping hand
For a unity combined with resolve
That will allow peace throughout the land
